Tree Planting

We saw above that trees are good for the soil and essential for a good harvest. We also saw that most of the trees in the area have been cut down.

The Federation decided that the answer was to plant more trees. The Committee bought tree seeds with some of the money given by Christian Aid. Then they made two tree nurseries where they look after the tree saplings as they grow. When the trees are big enough, they are given to the villagers to plant. So far 14,000 tree saplings have been grown and given to villagers.

Some tree saplings packed ready to be given out to villagers.

The villagers are given training on how to look after the tree saplings. They are encouraged to plant some around their house, some in the village area and some outside the village around the fields where they plant their crops.
